According to septuagint.net the Septuagint (sometimes abbreviated LXX) is the name given to the Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures. The Septuagint has its origin in Alexandria, Egypt and was translated between 300-200 BC. The Septuagint was also a source of the Old Testament for early Christians during the first few centuries AD. Many early Christians spoke and read Greek, thus they relied on the Septuagint translation for most of their understanding of the Old Testament. The New Testament writers also relied heavily on the Septuagint, as a majority of Old Testament quotes cited in the New Testament are quoted directly from the Septuagint (others are quoted from the Hebrew texts).

The Christian New Testament is derived from 27 books written by followers of Jesus Christ between 40 and 90 A.D., more than 400 years after the Old Testament was composed. From 40 to 90 A.D., followers of Jesus began recording the books that would become the New Testament, the first manuscript of which is thought to have been published circa 125 A.D. In 1380 A.D., John Wycliffe and his followers, the Lollards, produced the first English language Bible translations, which had been originally recorded in Greek and translated to Latin.

According to greatsite.com/English bible  William Tyndale was the Captain of the Army of Reformers, and was their spiritual leader. Tyndale holds the distinction of being the first man to ever print the New Testament in the English language. Tyndale was a true scholar and a genius, so fluent in eight languages that it was said one would think any one of them to be his native tongue. He is frequently referred to as the “Architect of the English Language”, (even more so than William Shakespeare) as so many of the phrases Tyndale coined are still in our language today. 1525-1526 the Tyndale New Testament became the first printed edition of the scripture in the English language.

The Lord sometimes uses the evil intentions of men to bring about His glory. 

The King James Bible turned out to be an excellent and accurate translation, and it became the most printed book in the history of the world, and the only book with one billion copies in print. In fact, for over 250 years...until the appearance of the English Revised Version of 1881-1885...the King James Version reigned without much of a rival. Now this tidbit of history on the bible allow me to go ahead and share why I know the KJV is the best translation for me. 

 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” II Tim 3:15.
Timothy's mother & grandmother was given credit by the Apostle Paul for inspiring Timothy in reading the Old Testment scriptures for in them repentance from sin can be seen. Finding "grace in the eyes of the Lord" when there was no Mosiac law, that is what Noah found an old time salvation handed-down to Abraham who beleived God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. The Apostle Paul gave old news to the new Jews (those born inwardly by faith) what the old jews rejected "that the law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ." The same has been handed-down to us today through the New Testament Scriptures.

Grandma Jones residing at 204 S. Church Street on the east side of Olathe, Kansas in her signature polka-dot dress was quietly swaying in her rocking chair contemplating as I read her a chapter from the Old Testament scriptures. Like Timothy’s grandmother Lois, she had her way of teaching me Gods holy word. I remember her sweet soprano voice singing softly The B.i.b.l.e, that is the book for me, I stand alone on the word of God the B.i.b.l.e. 

For over 200 years in America, Grandmas kith and kin (friends &family) have been bible readers and the only version of the bible they ever owned or handed-down was the King James Version. As a tenth generation Grandpa Jones in America "family tradition ought to account for something."

Hand-me-down history to some may be a mystery, but long before the reformation & Martin Luther, Tyndale & KJV Bible, the early church no doubt preached from the Hebrew & Greek scriptures and may have been in the wilderness (its influence clouded by persecution)  as the Devils counterfeit churches fought back & forth for centuries for control of men’s souls.

A political roller-coaster in a religious world of men like Diotrephes (whom John called iniquitous (wicked) in III John 1:9) rose to take the preeminence in the European church (not the Lord's true church) until the will of God intervened setting the Protestant scene for the 1611 King James translation which began in 1604.  

This year marks the 400^th year of the King James Version. I read a creationist scientist involved in many new 2Oth century translations profess in his elderly years “The 1611 King James Version was the best translation.”

Serak, in an article titled “The Geneva Bible - An Historical Report” claims the KJV consisted of 39% New Material; 4% of Wycliffe’s Bible, Tyndale’s 18%; Cloverdale’s 13%; Geneva’s 19%; Bishop 3%; and 3% from other versions.

The only thing I would attribute worthwhile that came from the Church of England was the 1611 King James Bible. “Thee & thou” are pronouns found in the original KJV; used not to confuse, quite simply; old English placed the scriptures on a personal level between God and the reader.

Wikipedia.org records "Early Modern English Bible translations are those translations of the Bible which were made between about 1500 and 1800, the period of Early Modern English. This was the first major period of Bible translation into the English language. It began with the dramatic introduction of the Tyndale Bible. I have pondered in my heart why not the Tyndale Bible? (to some a healthier translation).

The KJV for three hundred years became the name synonymous with the Holy Bible in the English world.  Its popularity has survived for centuries and its Holy writ made alive by the Holy Spirit as it instills God-called men to preach from it today.

It makes good sense to me that in God’s divine providence the KJV didn’t by chance become the most popular bible version of all and maintain its popularity for over three hundred years. Two-hundred of those years in the homes of my ancestors in America; ten generations of Jones have handed-down the KJV.

It is with a simple education I make this declaration, there is no perfect translation "revised, authorized, or otherwise.” I take this stand due to fallibility of man, but for me the KJV in its “standard English form” is the book I use to preach & teach, and warn sinners to seek the Lord.

In the first several thousand years of the church until she came out of the wilderness, Apostle Peter & Paul and all of the early brethren preached from the Old Testament scriptures “as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This is clearly evident in the Acts of Apostles where the Old Testament was quoted by the early brethren of the church.

Contrary to popular religious opinion, the first church-home began in Jerusalem and not in Rome. If you will do your research you will find Christ has always been the head of & only lawgiver in His church.  There is one lawgiver who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? James 4:12. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”

It is also evident divine providence during the early century's of the church "the gates of hell did not prevail against it" the old ship of Zion set sail over troubled seas as the great dragon of Revelation 12: 17 went to make war with the remnant of the women’s seed “which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Wherever the church went, they spent their time preaching that God "commanded men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). These brethren and those that followed into the early centuries preached from the Old Testament, and from the four gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, & letters of Apostle Peter, John, Apostles Paul, James & Jude. They preached in power from the notes of these early church leaders.

Thanks to the 1611 KJV; I preach today “as the Spirit gives me utterance” using the notes from 66 books as holy men of God spake and wrote them by the Holy Ghost.” What I love most is through God's providence and good will the Lord took the enemy & Britsh scholars of Hebrew and Greek to produce a library of his written word to be heard throughout the English world as it is today preached in other languages.

The best English version of the written word of God transliterated (from alphabet to alphabet) Hebrew & Greek into English is for me the 1611 King James. I may stand alone on the KJV, but to the tune of The B.i.b.l.e “that’s the bible version for me”
